The first Central European Startup Awards attracted over 1000 nominations from across the region in 6 categories. On 30 May more than 400 people gathered in Budapest for the much anticipated awards ceremony, where the jury announced the winners.

CryptTalk, a secure mobile communication service by Arenim Technologies was a favourite at this year’s Hungarian Innovation Tech Show, taking home no less than three awards: Fintech Startup of the Year, Most Innovative Project and Developer Heroes of the Year.

The Hungarian Innovation Tech Show is a top-tier exhibition and conference, showcasing new digital products and services from Hungary. The Fintech & Sales Demo Day section of the event on 30th May saw the best business-focused innovative solutions of the CEE region competing for the great prize, the “Fintech Startup of the Year” award. The Central European Startup Awards is a series of events to recognise and celebrate the startup ecosystems of Central and Eastern Europe. The organisers are looking to find the best of the region in seven categories. Nominations are open until 23 April.

The Startup Awards started as a concept in 2012 to provide a spotlight focus on startups in the Nordic region. The founders soon realised that startups deserve recognition elsewhere in Europe as well. In 2014, the Nordic Startup Awards is expanding in Europe. Read more »

Leonar3do showcases new product at CES 2013 in Las Vegas

Hungarian startup Leonar3Do (pronounced "Leonardo") demoed its virtual reality software that lets you manipulate 3D objects as if they were right in front of you, and its new product Vimensio, a 3D learning environment for students and teachers.

Using a combination of triangulation – using sensors latched on to your computer – and 3D goggles, Leonar3Do creates an environment for interacting with 3D objects for work or for play. The software lets you interact with objects in various ways, like pinching, pulling, moving, and erasing – all in three-dimensional space. Once you're finished, you can export your project and print it using any 3D printer, or use the Maya plug-in to edit your project there. Read more »
