Founder of Prezi is Europioneers' Top Web Entrepreneur of 2014

Europe's pioneering technology entrepreneurs received the prestigious Europioneers Awards at the Web Summit held in Dublin earlier this week. Peter Arvai, one of the founders of Prezi received the Europioneers award "Top Web Entrepreneur of 2014".

The Europioneers competition is an annual event organized as a part of Startup Europe and the European Commission’s Europe programme for Web Entrepreneurship. The objective of the competition is to identify and recognise successful European web initiatives, to promote the role web entrepreneurs play in European society, and to encourage and inspire potential entrepreneurs.

After 6 months of competition, the European Commission, with Deloitte, European Young Innovators Forum and HUB Institute, announced the winners who represent the new generation of European entrepreneurs who use the web as the core of their business strategy and development.

Europe's pioneering tech and web superstars received the prestigious Europioneers 2014 Awards at Web Summit conference in Dublin with a large representation of the entrepreneur community. The ceremony was followed by a Gala dinner where the winners presented their startup venture in front of 150 VC, industry experts, media and public authorities.

This year’s competition has four Award categories. Web Entrepreneur Award: entrepreneurs creating new digital services and products, Young Web Entrepreneur Award: for web entrepreneurs below the age of 30, Female Web Entrepreneur Award: for female web entrepreneurs, and High Growth Web Entrepreneur Award: for entrepreneurs in a high growth company with and average yearly growth of 20% over a 3 year period.

Peter Arvai, one of the founders of Prezi received the award "Top Web Entrepreneur of the Year". In 2008 Peter joined forces with fellow Hungarians, Adam Somlai-Fischer and Péter Halácsy to create Prezi, a cloud-based presentation platform. Today Prezi has a community of over 45 million users and over 120 million prezis around the world. The company has offices in San Francisco and Budapest and 40 employees from around the world.

Prior to Prezi, Peter also founded omvard.se a company that aggregates data on treatment outcomes for hospitalized patients. He also developed the world's first mobile newsreader so people could follow TED Talks from their mobile devices.
