Talks

The first talk by Jaime Levy delves into the crucial practice of user experience (UX) strategy, which relies on empirical, lightweight tactics for pushing cross-functional teams toward a unique digital solution that customers want. It will start with a primer covering topics such as business strategy validated user research, disruptive innovation, and why your product must deliver superior value through a “killer” user experience. The business case of Airbnb will be deconstructed so you can see how they started (by running experiments), ambitiously scaled (with growth hacking techniques), and monetized their value proposition (with an innovative business model).

Jaime Levy is an author, college professor and User Experience consultant based in Los Angeles, California. Her book UX Strategy: How to Devise Innovative Digital Products that People Want was just published by O'Reilly Media. Jaime heads a consultancy called JLR Interactive that caters to startups and enterprises, helping them transform their business concepts into innovative and scalable online solutions. She also teaches a graduate level UX design and strategy course in the Viterbi engineering school at the University of Southern California.

The second presentation by Sarah Dzida will demonstrate how to use and adapt the tactics in the UX strategy toolkit.

Sarah Dzida is a UX design and content development consultant in Los Angeles. She builds wireframes, sitemaps, prototypes and all the other fun deliverables clients like to get. Her specialty is finding UX opportunities through content. In addition to working with startups, agencies and enterprises, she writes articles, essays and poetry. They've been featured online, in print and at the Architecture + Design Museum in Los Angeles. She helped develop the book UX Strategy by Jaime Levy.
