Sighter secures new round of funding from Enterprise Ireland

Hungarian startup Sighter secured €50,000 investment from Enterprise Ireland’s Competitive Start Fund. The fund is also the gateway to EI’s High Potential Startup Funding. This is the third round of investment for Sighter, raising their funding to €110,000.

Hungarian startup Sighter have been really busy growing their startup over the last 6 months. Back in May they won third place at the Budapest Bank Startup Competition, where their new advisor Sean Murphy gave the presentation. In June they finished Ryan Academy’s Propeller Venture Accelerator programme. The team learned a lot there and gained loads of great contacts in the Irish Ecosystem. Also in June Sighter selected to participate in the StartupChile program (among the best 100 out of 1570 applicants) - receiving 40k USD equity free seed capital.

Now, Sighter got approved for Enterprise Ireland’s (EI) Competitive Start Fund, receiving €50,000 investment and business support. The Competitive Start Fund is also the gateway to EI’s High Potential Startup Funding. This is the third round of investment for Sighter this year, totaling their funding to €110,000.

Currently, Attila and Adrienn are in Chile, while Krisztian, Csaba and Sean work from Europe. Sighter now has an office in Liffey Trust Centre in Dublin, next to the new office of TripAdvisor. The startup is currently hiring, they are looking for a Sales Manager in Dublin.

The startup is just beginning to uncover the business potentials of its mobile application. Sighter shipped its first B2B product to Waterways Ireland’s Lakelands Initiative. The team created treasure trails in 10 of their touristic locations, in cooperation with heritage officers - resulting in true quality content. They Waterways Ireland were really satisfied with the results, and are already negotiating further cooperation. The team has also created two touristic demo trails in Barcelona, and treasure trail for families in cooperation with the Budapest Zoo.

The Hungarian startup has been busy building a community over the last months as well. The GeoCaching community started to discover and embrace Sighter, and the team is now getting amazing feedback, podcast invitations and loads of thankful emails for it. As an experiment, they shot a pilot video in Berlin, and collected loads of feedback - now they are planning an even better one.

In November, Sighter was featured in an article by tourism gamification experts at ThinkDigital.Travel, and was selected as ‘App of the Month’ by Only-apartments. Also, Sighter was selected to showcase its mobile application at the AppNation conference in San Francisco on December 3-4, an event focused on the business side of the app revolution, and attended by the biggest players of the industry.
