Ideapool receives $200k funding from Colabs for its intelligent packaging

IdeaPool, a Hungarian firm specialized in intelligent packaging and shelf-life indicators has received a capital infusion of USD 200k (HUF 46m) from Colabs StartUp Accelerator. Their product indicates the quality of the milk even in unopened packages.

IdeaPool is a young innovation technology startup from Budapest, Hungary. The founders, Viktor Seres and Zsuzsanna Galambos, created IdeaPool as a legal entity in 2011, after several years of experimenting and winnig of the first prize and HUF 3 million of The Young Entrepreneur of the Future competition, organised by Dreher Breweries.

The company's patent-pending flagship product is - still in development phase - a method that is able to alert the consumers when their milk is expired, more precisely it indicates the quality of the milk even in unopened packages. Intelligent Packaging Industry is already using color changing expiration indicators, however IdeaPool claims their product differs from the ones already available on the market.

The investment by Colabs will be used to start mass production, negotiations have already started with leading milk producers. Later on IdeaPool would like to develop solutions for food types other than milk.

Colabs is a Hungarian startup accelerator, founded in 2011. Numerous successful ventures, like Thinkinvisible, Noispot, Pocketguide, Remagine Technologies started from Colabs or found investors via their pitch competitions. Colabs’s preferred investment size for seed funding is HUF 2-6 million in exchange for 10-20% equity stake, furthermore HUF 10-100 million is available for early stage companies. Their field of interest spans from IT to bioinformatics and to other innovative solutions in the field of design and media.
