PortfoLion invests €1.5 million in social media monitor Replise

Venture capital fund PortfoLion, a unit of OTP Bank, Hungary's biggest commercial lender, has invested €1.5 million in Replise, which monitors and indexes online conversations and social media content.

Replise (formerly BrandMonitor) is a service for monitoring brand engagements on social media. The software constantly scans the content and interactions occurring on the most popular social networking and video sharing sites, as well as important news portals, forums, and blogs.

Replise aims to offer the broadest social content monitoring and measurement coverage in each country. To maximize the number of matches, language characteristics and cultural differences have to be considered. The company is therefore setting up local operations with analyst and consulting teams in several countries who provide leading services to clients.

The investment will support the international expansion of Replise in Europe. As first step, the company opened a new office in Warsaw, Poland earlier this year in August, and according to their plans the second office will be set up later this year in Frankfurt, Germany. Their aim is to gradually gain market and to become a market leader in several key countries across the continent. Despite the recent changes, the headquarter of Replise will remain in Hungary.

During its two years of operations since 2010, the company has helped over 150 well renowned consumer brands to track brand engagement online. Their biggest customers arrived from the telecommunication and consumer electronics sectors, and they managed to get several pharmaceuticals, car manufacturers, banks and brands from FMCG to use their service.

PortfoLion Venture Capital Fund Management Company was established in 2010 as a member of the OTP Group. The strategic goal of PortfoLion is to become the leading venture capital investor of the CEE region within five years. To that end, they seek to work with companies, in the early stages of their operation, which are expected to achieve strong market positions through unique and innovative solutions, and which thereby offer excellent growth potential. PortfoLion now manages eleven active investments in companies active in areas as diverse as biotechnology and fashion. PortfoLion makes its investments in the framework of the European Union's Jeremie I program.
