Brickflow pivots into a visual-content discovery platform

After launching a public beta and raising a seed-round, Brickflow pivoted into visual-content discovery. With their user base growing rapidly, the Hungarian startup is rolling out an iOS app, implementing premium features, and continuing to fundraise.

Brickflow, starting out as a visual storytelling tool, announces its pivot into personal visual-content discovery. In comparison to typical discovery applications, Brickflow specializes in shareable images and videos but allows users to go beyond content consumption. Besides recommending custom-selected content, the app helps its users grow their fan bases on visual social platforms, such as Tumblr.

“What we learned from building a storytelling tool is that younger generations prefer short and visual content and found new networks for expressing themselves: microblogs, online pinboards, etc. What they need help with is finding the fitting content and the audience for self-expression” says Peter Langmar, CEO and founder of Brickflow.

Brickflow analyzes its user’s profile after registration. The recommendation engine automatically presents a personalized feed of photos and videos that fit the user’s style. Sharing is as easy as a swipe or a click. It also offers other profiles to discover and interact with, thus extending the network. Running a social profile with Brickflow allows users to become a recognized member of the community.

Content recommendation is a rising trend in social media. Two examples are Facebook’s “Trending” feed and the “Daily by Buffer” app. In addition, the fastest-growing social networks and applications are visual. Active usage has been steeply increasing both on Pinterest and Instagram, not to mention the high number of visual blogs on Tumblr.

It is an exciting period for Brickflow. The user base grew by 39% in August, while tens of thousands register weekly. Besides beta testing the iOS mobile app, premium features are being developed. After various experiments, further customization opportunities are offered to professional users. On top of that, the team is now out to raise the next round of funding.
